CHINA TRIP 2008 --PART 5 -- SANYA

CHINA TRIP -- PART 5 -- SANYA

We left Guilin and flew to "China's Hawaii" -- Sanya, on the southern end of the island of Hainan. We checked into the Banyan Tree, where we had a "pool villa" -- a private villa with our own private pool!

THE BATHTUB IS OUTSIDE -- IN SITS IN WATER!!!

The next day, we went to Tianyahaijao (tee-an-ya-hi-jow) Park -- literally "end of the earth" park. The Chinese believed that they were the only "civilized" part of the world, so the southern end of China was considered the end of the earth.

ONE OF MANY PEOPLE WHO TOOK PHOTOS WITH ME...

...HE'S ALMOST AS TALL AS ROGER!

The most interesting -- and funniest -- thing at the park was seeing people in "Hainan t-shirts" -- matching shirts and shorts in loud colors and with big bold prints/flowers...

HAINAN T-SHIRTS:

MORE HAINAN T-SHIRTS:

Maybe the only thing funnier than the Hainan t-shirts was a kid's outfit that we saw... Roger had to take a photo...

After Tianyahaijao, we went back to Banyan Tree and relaxed -- for 2 days!

The BT beach... where is everyone???

There's one person at the beach -- me!

Roger... r-e-l-a-x-i-n-g!

The nail polish should be a giveaway -- that' s my feet:

More relaxing...

Roger did find time for a bath. I don't know if you can tell, but it is raining! Notice the stepping stone from the bathroom to the bathtub -- since the bathtub is in water...

We recharged our batteries at Banyan Tree Sanya, and then headed off for our last stop -- Shanghai! (See China Trip #6 -- Shanghai for the last part of our trip...)
