I MISSED SNAPPING AT PHOTO AT MAX SPEED -- BUT THIS IS CLOSE:

I LOVE THIS PHOTO -- LOOK AT THE GOOFY GUY IN THE BACKGROUND, BETWEEN THE SEATS:

We only had a quick stop in Shanghai -- just an overnight stop on our way home.

Our hotel was downtown, right off Nanjing Road -- the famous shopping area. We spent a few hours walking along Nanjing Road, to the Bund, with its soaring skyscrapers, then headed back to the hotel...

The next morning, we had a leisurely breakfast and then headed to the airport on the MagLev train, which reaches a maximum speed of 431 KPH (250 MPH). There is a sign in each car showing the speed.

The MagLev train got us to the airport from downtown -- a 45 minute drive -- in 7 minutes! What fun!

At the airport, we got the good news that we had been upgraded to business class for the flight home -- what a treat! We settled in, relaxed annd enjoyed the flight home...

On our way home, Roger said EXACTLY what I knew he would say: "That was interesting, and I'm glad we went, but let's NEVER EVER go back."

Well, that's it for our 2008 trip. Check back for an update in 2009!

Laurie (and Roger)
